Bangalore, Mar 8 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today refused to vacate the interim order of stay of proceedings in a murder case of one Reddy and his associate in which former Speaker Ramesh Kumar was also one of the accused.

Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice B S Patil refused to grant interim injunction after hearing the state government on two connected writ petitions filed by Mr Ramesh Kumar, MLA, and three others and Mr K V Shivareddy challenging the government order on July 22, last year, appointing Mr H M Thimmarayappa as the Special Public Prosecutor to conduct the case in the High Court, by withdrawing its earlier order on May 20, 2006.

On these petitions, the High Court had granted an interim order on August 18, last year, staying further proceedings of the prosecution.

The case pertained to the murder of one Reddy and his associate near a village in Srinivasapura taluk of Kolar district.
