Forest officials seizes wood worth RS 2.5 lakh, arrests four

Kolhapur, Mar 8 (UNI) Four persons were arrested for transporting illegally 40 tonnes wood, worth Rs 2.5 lakh, in Jawaharnagar suburb in the city today.

On a tip-off that 'hirda' (a particular tree wood) was being brought here illegally from Pune, forest officials with the help of police impounded two trucks carrying the wood, offical sources said.

Those arrested have been identified as - Ndyandev Vhanaji Kolap, Laxman Dhule, Santosh Gholap all from Ambejogai and Sushant Datta Kadam from Jawaharnagar, sources added.
