DMDK leader's call on Women's Day
Vellore, Tamil Nadu, Mar 8 (UNI) Desiya MDK (DMDK) Founder-Leader and Actor-Politician Vijayakanth today asked the government to provide 50 per cent reservation for women in employment and education.
Addressing a gathering in connection with a conference organised by the party on the occasion of International Women's Day here this evening, Mr Vijayakanth claimed one third of the candidates who contested the last Assembly elections on DMDK tickets were women which was a first of sorts in the country.
He alleged the Tamil Nadu Government had not done anything concrete for the uplift of the rural women other than drawing attractive schemes which were not really useful.
The DMDK leader also said his party would hold an agitation against price rise at a date to be decided later.
