Demonstration held to mark International Women's Day

Ahmedabad, Mar 8 (UNI) Members of the regional centre of All India Mahila Sanskritic Sanghathan (AIMSS) organised a demonstration against 'atrocities on women' on the occasion of the International Women's day today.

The women members in large numbers under the leadership of regional incharge Bhavika Shah of AIMSS staged a demonstration against the atrocities on women at Apna Bazar Circle this afternoon.

Demonstrators held placards depicting the plight of women and appealed the women to raise their voice to solve their problems.

They also focussed on rising dowry deaths, suicides due to economic deprivation, falling sex ratio, the impact of relaxation on prohibition policy by the State government on Special Economic Zone and the degrading situation of women due to liberalisation and globalisation of the economy.
