Cabinet approves ''approach'' on talks with Pakistan

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) today approved the approach to be adopted by the government in the Foreign Secretary level talks with Pakistan to be held in Islamabad from March 13-15.

The CCS finalised the approach after considering the report on the discussions that took place in Islamabad yesterday and the day before as part of the joint mechanism to fight terrorism, Finance Minister P Chidambaram told reporters.

The March 13-15 talks will mark the launch of the Fourth Round of the Composite Dialogue Process (CDP) between the two countries.

The last time the two Foreign Secretaries met was in November 2006 when the two countries finalised the text of the Agreement on ''Reducing Risks from Accidents relating to Nuclear Weapons.'' The agreement was signed in January this year after a meeting between External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri.
