Badal summons party meeting on March 10

Chandigarh, Mar 8 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who is also the president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), has summoned a meeting of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the party on March 10.

The meeting will be held at Punjab Bhawan instead of Kalgidhar Niwas, where it is normally held.

SAD secretary Daljit Singh Cheema today said the meeting will decide the candidate for the lone Rajya Sabha seat in Punjab, which fell vacant following the death of Congress leader Mrs Sukhbans Kaur Bhinder last year. The meeting will also review the political scenario in Punjab after the assembly polls.

Meanwhile, the SAD chief appointed Mr Prem Singh Chandumajra and Baldev Singh Mann to the PAC. The two, who were close confidants of former SGPC chief, the late Gurcharan Singh Tohra, had lost the assembly elections last month.
