TN CM condemns murder of Jharkhand MP

Chennai, Mar 7 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minsiter M Karunanidhi today condemned the recent brutal murder of Jharkand Member of Parliament, Sunil Kumar Mahto, by naxalites.

The Chief Minister expressed anguish that Mahto, who was also the General Secretary of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and once tipped for the Chief Ministership of Jharkhand, was shot dead in public.

Though naxalites had killed many, this was the first time they had murdered an MP, he said, adding naxalism had a close link with poverty and the menace could be wiped out only if poverty was alleviated.
