Release 12 persons detained under PSA, J

Srinagar, Mar 7 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir High Court has quashed the detention of twelve peoples, including a senior leader of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), detained under Public Safety Act (PSA).

A single bench comprising Justice Bashir Ahmad Kirmani directed the government to release detenues if they are not involved in any other case.

The court gave the order after hearing counsels of both the sides.

Those whose releases were ordered included one of the founder leader of JKLF Bilal Siddiaui, Shabir Ahmed Renzu, Feroz Rashid, Showkat Ahmed Malla, Asgar Ahmed Wani, Fayaz Ahmed Lone, Shabir Ahmed Mir and Masood Yasin Bhat.

Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir also quashed PSA against four detainees Ghulam Mohiddin Thokar, Mushtaq Ahmed Malik, Manzoor Ahmed Bhat, and Abdul Majeed Sofi.

The judges said prosecution has failed to produce any evidence or proof to justify the arrests of detenues under PSA.
