Punjab Congress issues showcause notices to 10 partymen
Chandigarh, Mar 7 (UNI) Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) has issued showcause notices to senior leader and former Deputy Speaker Bir Devinder Singh and nine others for their involvement in anti-party activities in the recently concluded assembly elections in the state.
Besides Bir Devinder the others who have been issued the notices are Pawan Kaumar Adiya, Chairman Improvement Trust, Hoshiarpur, Phagwara Improvement trust chairman Raja Balbir Sodhi, former minister Harnek Singh Gharuan, former MLA Swinder Singh Kathunangal, Lakhwinder Kaur Garcha, Gurdaspur Congress Committee president Kishan Chand Bains, ex-chairman Phagwara Improvement Trust Harjit Singh Parmar, Mohali District Congress Committee general secretary B B Maini and Mehar Singh of village Nagal in Gurdaspur district.
Mrs Garcha was an OSD to former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh. Mr Malwinder Singh, brother of Capt Singh had already been given a show cause notice by the PPCC for his role in the assembly polls.
They have all been asked to explain their position by March 20, failing which action would be taken against them as per party rules.
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary Raj Pal Singh said today these leaders had been issued notices as per directions of the PPCC President Shamsher Singh Dullo.
