Tirupati, Mar 6 (UNI) Various political parties and public representatives from Rayalaseema, Nellore and Prakasam today expressed displeasure over the proposed draft of the delimitation commission at the meeting convened by the Delimitation Commission of India, chaired by Mr Justice Kuldeep Singh here.

With regard to Chittoor district, sitting Congress, TDP MLAs, CPI(M) leaders and Tirupati MP Chinta Mohan urged the Commission not to change the name of the present ''Tirupati Parliamentary Constituency'' which is a historical pilgrimage place.

Earlier, the Commission proposed to create a new LS constituency at Gudur in Nellore district instead of the Tirupati Parliamentary seat.

They also demanded the proposed formation of 14 Assembly constituencies in Chittoor district by the Commission, should be split into two Parliamentary constituencies, including Tirupati.

Regarding Kadapa district, Rajya Sabha Member M V Mysura Reddy (TDP) suggested that the Commission must make changes in eight mandals only.

The Commission pointed out that no changes were proposed for Pulivendula, Kadapa and Koduru Assembly constituencies.

Union Minister of State for Health Panabaka Lakshmi in a representation to the Commission, stated that the Commission should not ignore the highly populated districts while allotting Parliament seats.

In a letter addressed to the Delimitation Commission, Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Caste Associations leaders expressed objections over the proposed change of Nellore Reserved (SC) Lok Sabha Constituency into a general constituency.

Pointing out the clauses mentioned in the Delimitation Act, the SC leaders said Lok Sabha seats should formed in different parts of the state, with certain seats reserved for Scheduled Castes where their population was high.

They pointed out that the Nellore district, which had the highest population of SCs should necessarily be continued and allocated a Reserve(SC) Lok Sabha constituency followed by Prakasham, West Godavari, Chittoor, Karimnagar, Adilabad and Guntur.
