No let up in Cauvery protests
Mysore, Mar 7 (UNI) Even as the members of Parliament from Karnataka staged a protest in New Delhi against the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal, the agitations continued unabated in the Cauvery basin districts of Mandya, Mysore and Chamarajanagar for the 31st day today.
In Mandya, the Ration Distributors Association took out a procession against the verdict. Cauvery Hitarakshana Samithi President and former MP G Made Gowda, along with former Minister M S Athmananda, joined the march from Silver Jubilee park to the Deputy Commissioner's office and submitted a memorandum.
Mr Gowda said the ongoing protests would be intensified after the Ugadi festival on March 19 on the lines of the non-cooperation movement. Stopping tax payment, non-payment of electricity bills and non-payment of bus fares would be practiced, he warned, calling upon the protestors to be ready to go to jail also for the sake of Cauvery water.
Protests and agitations by various organisations continued in Mysore and Chamarajanagar districts.
