NFADE expresses concern over future of Prasar Bharti
New Delhi, Mar 7 (UNI) National Federation of Akashvani and Doordarshan Employees today expressed concern over the future of Prasar Bharti and sought that its employees and assets should continue to be in government hands.
The real essence of autonomy was out of place in the Prasar Bharti Act because news and current affairs for which automony had been envisaged was still controlled by Indian Information Service officers who were on deputation, hence government's control still continued, a statement quoting NFADE Chairman Anilkumar S said.
Prasar Bharti, in its present form was not financially viable and the future of 45,000 employees working in AIR and Doordarshan was at stake, it said.
NFADE, which represented 22 staff associations in AIR and Doordarshan, also demanded that all the 400 Indian Information Service officers on deputation in AIR and Doordarshan should be 'fully absorbed' in Prasar Bharti.
