Minister denies demolition of temples

Hyderabad, Mar 7 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj and Endowments Minister J C Diwakar Reddy today denied that ten temples were demolished in Nanakram Guda and Gachi Bowli areas on the outskirts of the city to facilitate the development of a Golf cource.

Replying to a question by P Janardhana Reddy (Congress), who alleged that 'EMMAR Properties' had demolished ten temples for the establishment of a Golf cource, Mr Diwakar Reddy said there were no temples in the area except the one for which foundation stone was laid by Mr Janardhana Reddy.

He said no temple was demolished.

The question led to an angry debate between the member and the minister, who said he held the portfolio of only endowments and demolition comes under a different department. He wanted the member to give notice for a different question on the issue.
