Iranian student in MHC allowed to go home

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 7 (UNI) An Iranian girl, PG student at the institute of English, Kerala University, who was admitted to a Mental Health Center (MHC) here, was today allowed to go along with her father.

Mohammad Ali Khatbi, father of Sheler Khatbi, who arrived here yesterday produced documents in the local court and pleaded for taking his daughter back to Iran. After verifying the documents, the court allowed Ali Khatbi to take his daughter back home.

The girl was admitted to the Government Mental Hospital on Friday on the basis of a Court direction after she created unruly scenes near her place of stay. She was a paying guest at Nanthancode near here. After the incident, the Iranian embassy in New Delhi was notified.

Meanwhile, the Kerala University had ordered a probe by a three-member Syndicate Committee into the circumstances that led to the admission of the girl student to the MHC.

After the inquiry at the MHC, they told newpersons that the girl was under stress and doctors said she was in a state of acute excitement.
