Health minister inaugurates School of Public Health

Chandigarh, Mar 7 (UNI) Union Health Minister Dr Anbumani Ramadoss today inaugurated the School of Public Health (SPH) here which aims at promoting public health through education of health professionals, discovery and promotion of new health-related ideas and strengthening health organisations.

The school will have staff strength of around 70 and would initially admit 12 students for MPH course which will be open for medical and non-medical candidates. The school building includes a seminar room, a committee room, two public health laboratories and one computer lab besides 23 rooms.

The aim of SPH is to conduct postgraduate teaching programmes, like MD, PhD and MPH, and short-term training courses for national health programme managers in various fields of public health including Epidemiology, Health Management, Health Promotion, Family Medicine).

It will also provide consultancy services to state and central health services on public health matters, and will carry out research by setting up model public health projects keeping in view national health policy guidelines and vision of health for all in 21st century, an official release said here.
