CPI(ML) criticises Speaker's praise for S S Roy's policy
Ranchi, Mar 7 (UNI) Jharkhand Speaker Alamgir Alam has become the target of the CPI(ML) for his recent advice to the state government to toe the line of former West Bengal Chief Minister Siddhartha Shankar Roy who was reportedly successful in crushing naxalite movement in that state.
Mr Alam, after the killing of Jamshedpur MP Sunil Mahto by naxals on March 4, expressed concern over the spurt in insurgency in the state.
The Speaker praised the then West Bengal Chief Minister(Mr Roy)'s policy to curb naxalite movement and advised the state government to follow the same here.
Addressing a press conference here, party's state general secretary Shubhendu Sen today said Mr Alam should take note of the fact that the very policy of Mr Roy led to Congress' ouster from West Bengal since then as he was the last Congress Chief Minister of the state.
The CPI (ML) said it would fight tooth and nail any move to glorify facist policy of the government.
Mr Sen said all these problems could only be solved by dialogue and he welcomed the earlier statements of Chief Minister Madhu Koda urging the naxals to abjure violence to come to negotiating table.
