Air Deccan starts daily flights to Agartala, Bhubaneswar
Chennai, Mar 7 (UNI) Air-Deccan, the country's low cost airliner will operate daily flights from Chennai to Bhubhaneswar and to Agartala via Kolkata from March 26.
Addressing a press conference here today, Chief Operating Officer Air Deccan Warwick Brady said a brand new 180 seater Airbus A-320 aircraft would be deployed to serve these routes, and booking for these flights was already open.
He said low fare air connectivity would enable cities to emerge as economic power houses. Their new flights would not only provide convenient and affordable travel options but it would also spur economic activities, encourage movement of tourists and also provide a fillip to the pace of development in adjoining regions, he claimed.
He said since their entry into the aviation section in 2003, the market had been growing at over 20 per cent per annum.
He said in South itself they were connecting 18 cities in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh namely Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tuticorin, Tiruchirapalli, Trivandrum, Cochin, Calicut, Bangalore, Mangalore, Hubli, Belgaum, Bellary, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry and Tirupathi.
The airliner would also introduce a new state-of-art reservation system from March 27, Mr Brady sid adding the five Million dollar hanger facility at Chennai airport was nearing completion and was expected to be operational by end of next month. It would be fully operational by June next.
Once the hanger starts functioning, the maintenance of the aircrafts would improve, besides other operational advantages, he added.
