AIADMK men held for defying prohibitory orders
Chennai, Mar 7 (UNI) Police arrested 366 AIADMK men, including 53 women, for attempting to defy prohibitory orders and hold demonstration before the Tiruvotriyur Municipality here today.
They condemned the police for allegedly not granting permission to them to stage black flag agitation against DMK Youth Wing Leader and State Local Administration Minister M K Stalin last week.
AIADMK Tiruvallur District Secretary Moorthy, who led the demonstration, said they had put up giant banners in connection with Party Supremo J Jayalalithaa's birthday celeberations.
These were torn and removed by the ruling DMK men with the help of police to enable them to put up welcome banners to Mr Stalin who came to Tiruvallur District for participating in a function last week, he alleged.
To condemn this, they sought police permission to hold black flag demonstration against Mr Stalin which was, however, turned down by the police.
The arrested included Mr Balaraman representing Ponneri in the State Assembly and Former AIADMK MLAs Kuppan and Arumugam and Manali Municipal Chairman Ganasekaran.
They were later remanded in judicial custody.
