Actor-turned-MP Dharmendra not to campaign in UP polls
Lucknow, Mar 7 (UNI) Bollywood star and BJP MP Dharmendra today said he will not campaign for his party in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections starting next month.
''I have decided not to campaign for the BJP in the UP polls as I do not want to hurt anyone's sentiments,'' the actor said while refusing to comment anything about his wife and BJP MP Hemamalani.
''Nowadays, there is so much mudslinging during the electioneering, so I have decided to keep myself away from any controversy,'' Dharmendra told mediapersons here.
Keeping silent about King Khan Sharukh's statement on Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Amar Singh during a film award ceremony, he said: ''There is an urgent need of good people in the politics.'' ''During my recent meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, I asked him to do something for bringing good people on one platform to lead the country,'' the BJP MP said.
Commenting on his Bollywood career, the yesteryear mega-star said he will only do comedy films now and his next film 'Apne' will be released in June next.
''I will never essay a role which Amitabh did in Nishabd as I am not comfortable with such roles,'' he said.
