Vijay Goel demands Delhi Election Commissioner's resignation
New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) Former union minister and BJP National Secretary Vijay Goel today demanded the resignation of Delhi State Election Commissioner S P Marwah saying he had no moral right to continue in office following the ''scandal'' caused by reservation of seats in the 272-ward Municipal Corporation of Delhi house.
Submitting a memorandum to Delhi Administrator A R Kidwai, he said Mr Marwah had no right to continue as Delhi State Election Commissioner since nobody had confidence in him.
''Free and fair election cannot be ensured under his supervision,'' he added.
Mr Kidwai assured Mr Goel to look into the matter.
Meanwhile, Bhim Singh, the nephew of veteran Congress leader and Delhi Assembly Speaker Prem Singh today joined the BJP along with his wife and supporters ahead of the forthcoming Municipal elections.
Congress had become a party of sycophants, middlemen, exploiters and high flying leaders, he said and added ''there was no regard for the leaders connected with the people''.
BJP Delhi Pradesh President Harsh Vardhan added many big Congress leaders from the capital were contacting him wanting to join BJP, disillusioned with Congress policies and leadership.
