TNLA activities eliminated in Tamil Nadu: Police
Tiruchirapalli, Mar 6 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu police today claimed to have curbed the Tamil Nadu Liberation Army (TNLA), a banned extremist outfit in the Northern and Central parts of the state.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr K Radhakrishnan and Mr M S Jaffar Sait, Inspector Generals of Police, Northern and Central Zones respectively said with the active coordination between the police of both the zones, TNLA activists were eradicated from Perambalur and Cuddalore districts.
A few dropouts from the TNLA were indulging in criminal activities like robberies, dacoity and extortion of money, they added.
Mr Sait said with an aim to evolve strategies to curb the activities of anti-social elements in both the Central and Northern zones, an Inter Zone Conference on Border Management was being organised in the city.
The police had prepared the criminal profile of notorious anti-social elements of both zones in the form of Video Compact Discs (VCDs) for necessary action.
