Strengthen Left trade union movement in Hindi heartland:Pandhe

Kolkata, Mar 6 (UNI) Observing that workers' solidarity in the country was divided and weaken, CITU President M K Pandhe today called for unity and strengthening the Left trade union movement in the Hindi heartland.

"The workers' movement in the country has its weakness. We must concentrate on strengthening Left trade union movement in the Hindi speaking areas", he said while speaking at a function, organised to pay tributes to the departed CITU General Secretary Chittabrata Mazumder.

Mr Pandhe said in a capitalist systems workers were bound to be subjected to oppression. It was the devious way of capitalist rulers to wedge division among workers.

"The situation will not change unless there is workers' unity.

It is their responsibility to fight against the Government's anti-labour policies," he said.

The CITU President also observed that apart from participating in trade union movements, workers should take part in political movements as well.

Paying glowing tributes to Chittabrata Mazumder, Mr Pandhe said his death was great loss to the country's trade union movement and would be difficult to fill in.
