Rajasthan, ITC to develop watershed project

Jaipur, Mar 6 (UNI) In a first ever public-private initative, Rajasthan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ITC for development of a watershed project.

The MoU has been signed between government of Rajasthan and ITC Rural Development Trust in a function presided over by Kalu Lal Gurjar, minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.

Mr Gurjar said the objective of this partnership is to set up a model Watershed Project in the state by utilising the knowledge and expertise of the private sector through collaboration with the Panchayat which would be the Project Implementing Agency.

Mr Ram Lubhaya, principal secretary, rural development and Panachayti Raj department explained that looking to the precarious situation of water availability in the state, Chief Minister had set up a forum i.e Rajasthan Community Business Alliance for Water (RCBAW) with the objective of building public, private and community alliance for water conservation and related issues.

This partnership was conceived under the ageis of this forum.
