Raj alleges CM

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Mar 6 (UNI) Referring to the lack of development in the hometowns of stats Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) supremo Raj Thackeray today said politicians, who could not undertake development at their own towns, cannot develop the state and nation.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Thackeray said that during his ongoing tour of Marathwada, he has seen lack of nfrastructure developments in Latur and Chakur town, the hometowns of Mr Deshmukh and Mr Patil, respectively, and added there are no proper roads in Latur city while people are living without electricity in Chakur.

According to him, these stalwarts, despite, being in power, had failed to undertake basic developments even at their hometowns.

Mr Thackeray gave an example of Baramati town in the state and said that it can always be an ideal example of development.

Mr Thackeray, who has been on a campaign tour for his party's candidates contesting elections for the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections, said his party will undertake a training programe for the elected candidates after the ZP-PS polls, since the rural development only can be achieved through the ZP and he was of the view that the elected members need a proper training for the same.

Mr Thackeray said the water level in Marathwada has been declining and warned that if efforts would not be taken up immediately in this economically backward region, it would turn into a desert in few years.

The MNS chief said he would undertake a tour of the Marathwada after the ZP elections.
