Pakistani national living in Surat for past 10 years arrested
Surat, Mar 6 (UNI) A Pakistani citizen, residing in Surat for the last 10 years, has been arrested by sleuths of the special operation group (SOG) from here, police sources said.
Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Mohammed Tarique Ali Akbar Bhogal last evening.
The 48-year-old Pakistani national had arrived in India after crossing the Wagah border in 1990, on a visiting visa. Later, he met a woman named Nisha Samuel, who was working with the British High Commission and began living with her in Delhi.
However, 10 years back, when Nisha left him and went to America, he came to Surat and began living at Sayidpura area here as the son of his widow aunt Azziza begum. He even managed to get his name registered in the ration card as her son, sources said.
Police have registered a complaint against him and all those who helped him live here as per the Indian Passport Rules, 1950; Immigration Act and Foreigners Act and have begun investigating the matter, sources added.
