Pak resident among 5 militants arrested in Kashmir
Srinagar, Mar 6 (UNI) Police and Rashitriya Rifles (RR) personnel today arrested five militants, including a Pakistani resident, involved in the killing of about a dozen counter-insurgents in north Kashmir.
A police spokesman said an information was received that an injured militant, Mohammad Mansoor alias Abu Umar, a resident of Gujranwala, Pakistan, was being brought here for treatment from Sopore.
He said police and 52 RR personnel launched a joint-operation at Sopore, about 50 km from here in the north Kashmir, to nab the militant.
Spokesman said after a long wait, a vehicle in which the injured militant and four others were travelling, was searched.
All the five were arrested along with one AK 56 rifle and other arms and ammunition, he added.
He said the militant was injured in an encounter with security forces at Sumbal, yesterday, in which another militant was gunned down.
The militants were involved in the killing of about a dozen counter-insurgents in Sumbal and Hajan area of the north Kashmir in the recent past.
