No need to rush to AICC hqs, Gehlot cautions ticket seekers

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) Cautioning ticket aspirants for the forthcoming municipal elections against rushing to the AICC headquarters, Congress General Secretary (Delhi Affairs Incharge) Ashok Gehlot today said the entire process would be handled by the Pradesh Congress Committee in a transparent and systematic manner.

No one should rush to the AICC office to get his candidature recommended or attested as a proper transparent system has been put in place to ensure that a genuine candidate and the grassroot level worker gets due attention, Mr Gehlot told UNI.

''A set of features have been earmarked, through which all applications would be processed, to select the right candidate and the entire process would be in the hands of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee.'' No one should have illusions of their candidature being processed from 'the top'. Only honest, genuine and those with good reputation would get the party ticket, he said.

Stressing that regularisation of unauthorised colonies and several provisions in Master Plan benefiting shopkeepers and businessman would help the Congress in the MCD elections, Mr Gehlot said people have realised that the 'problem' was judicial in nature and not of the Congress' making.

''On 'excesses' being done by the electricty distribution companies the Delhi State government had earlier been told to press upon the companies and set the process right and if need be it would be further told to look into the grievances of the people.'' People's outlook would certainly find its due place, he added.
