Mulayam petitions President, Speaker against Cong 'conspiracy'

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) Beleagured Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, facing CBI inquiry in the disproportionate assets case, today had a hectic day in the capital trying to put across his message to high constitutional authorities that he was a victim of the Congress's political vendetta.

In the morning he met Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and in the evening he took his case to President APJ Abdul Kalam.

He told them the Congress was trying to dislodge his government ahead of the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

He also submitted an audio CD to the President and the Speaker containing a conversation which, he claimed, was between petitioner Vishwanath Chaturvedi, a man with Congress background who filed PIL against him in the Supreme Court. In the conversation Mr Chaturvedi had made derogatory remarks against judges, according to Mr Yadav,.

The Samajwadi Party has been alleging that after failing to impose Prsident's rule in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress was trying to harass Mr Yadav through other means.
