Beed, Maharashtra, Mar 6 (UNI) Taking strong exception to Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh's appeal that the NCP should merge with the Congress, Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil today said, ''the CM should not forget he has occupied his chair for over two years only because of the NCP.'' Addressing an election rally in support of NCP candidates for the Zilla Parishad elections at Ambejogai town in this district today, Mr Patil remarked that the Congress has a history of changing its Chief Minister after every two years. But, Mr Deshmukh has continued as the CM for over two years because of the NCP support, he said.

Mr Patil askedd Mr Deshmukh to sort out issues within his own party before suggesting to the NCP that it should merge with the Congress. Mr Patil claimed that in the days to come, the NCP would emerge as the sole powerful political party in the state.

Meanwhile, while criticising the BJP and the Shiv Sena, Mr Patil alleged that these parties were creating a rift among the people over religious and casteist issues.

About the power scenario in the state, Mr Patil said the problem of load-shedding would be resolved soon.
