Local body polls: HC seeks records on delimitation
Bangalore, Mar 6 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today directed the government Advocate to place before the court all records pertaining to the process of delimitation and holding of elections to local bodies.
Mr Justice Ramamohanareddy issued the direction on a writ petition, filed by the State Election Commission (SEC) seeking for a direction to the state government to issue reservation list in respect of all 209 urban local bodies. The petition would be posted for further hearing tomorrow.
The SEC contended that it had written to the state government several times to issue the reservation list for the CMCs and TMCs.
The terms of several of these bodies had expired last year itself and it was very much required under the statute to conduct elections as soon as possible.
