Detained Pak national arrested by Haryana police

Amritsar, Mar 6 (UNI) A detained Pakistani national was arrested by the Haryana Police and taken to Panipat for questioning in connection with the blasts on the Attari bound Samjautha Express last month.

The Pak-national identified as Ajmal Ali was taken into custody by the Haryana Police yesterday evening on the orders of a local court. The Haryana Police after submitting the production warrants acquired from a Panipat court had contended before the local court that a criminal case was registered at Panipat against Ajmal Ali and he needed to be questioned on the Samjautha blasts.

The court ordered the Amritsar Central jail authorities to hand over the Pak-national to the Haryana Police, a Punjab Police official said.

Ajmal Ali was arrested on March one at Attari after he alighted from the Samjautha Express from Lahore. He was arrested under the Indian Passport Act and Foreigners Act as he did not have any travel documents.

The next day he was produced before a local judicial magistrate, who sent him to judicial custody to the Central jail.
