Concession to MP jailbirds on Women's Day

Bhopal, Mar 6 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government has decided to waive the remaining sentences of certain categories of female prisoners on the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8, official sources said.

Those sentenced to life terms after December 18, 1978, those who have served 14 years and those who have served half their terms until March 8, 2007 would be freed. However, the Jail Department would not grant the concession to offenders investigated under the Delhi Police Establishment Act or any agency under a central act.

Habitual offenders and those not having paid surety would not be released.

Those booked for crimes relating to dowry, corruption, terrorism, fake medicine, Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, pension, excise, adulteration and people's representation would not be given any concession.
