Bandh observed in South Bengal protesting Mahto's killing
Bankura, March 06 (UNI) A 12-hour bandh, called by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) protesting against the killing of JMM MP Sunil Mahto, passed off peacefully in Bankura, Purulia and Burdwan districts of South Bengal today.
There was no report of any untoward incidents so far, police said.
Private buses did not ply and security has been tightened in bordering areas of South Bengal districts and Jharkhand.
A silent procession led by Mr.Ajit Prosad Mahto, president of West Bengal State JMM committee, walked through the streets of Purulia condemning the murder, police added.
