1,068 cops punished in past one decade in Goa
Panaji, Mar 6 (UNI) As many as 1,068 police officials had been punished either over corruption charges, misuse of official position or other irregularities during the last 10 years since 1997.
Goa Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane, in reply to an unstarred question of Francis P D'Souza (BJP) in the Legislative Assembly yesterday, said two police officers had been punished through enquiries initiated by the Directorate of Vigilance and seven officials of the rank of Police Inspectors had been facing disciplinary proceedings.
At the same time, the Directorate of Vigilance had initiated preliminary esquire against three officers above the rank of inspectors. Two other retired officials had also faced the probe, he added.
