Two die in Lahual Spiti as temperatures rise
New Delhi, Mar 4 (UNI) Two severely ill people died in Lahaul Spiti today even as temperatures rose appreciably in most parts of North-West India.
The two severely ill were stranded in the snow for the past ten days in Lahaul Spiti waiting for government help.
It was a sunny day in the national Capital with a nip in the air.
The maiximum temperature hovered at 26 degree which was one degreee below normal and two degrees more than yesterday, the minimum for the day remained normal at 13.1 degrees.
The day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Saurashtra, Kutch, Konkan, Goa, south Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and in remaining parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
In the Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and in some parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa and of north Madhya Maharashtra, they were below normal. Temperatures were normal over the rest of the country.
Night temperatures were also appreciably below normal in east Uttar Pradesh and in some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Haryana and of north Madhya Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, rain or snow occurred at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir. Very light rain have occurred at isolated places in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
In Himachal Pradesh, coldwave conditions are abating with the sky remaining mainly clear over the entire state.
Temperatures across the state are rising with the minimum at Shimla rising by four degrees to stand at 5.8 degree Celsius, the met office said.
The sky was mainly clear in the high altitude areas of the tribal districts after receiving snow and widespread rains in mid and lower hills of the state on Thursday.
The met office said the minimum temperature at Kalpa in Kinnaur rose to minus 3.5 degrees from a low of minus 5.6 degrees, while Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded night temperatures of 6.1 and five degree.
The state capital recorded maximum temperature of 14.6 degree yesterdays after recording a day temperature of 10 degree on Friday.
Warm conditions were being held in mid and lower hills of the state with people discarding their woolens.
