NTPC BoD okays amendments in objects clause to pursure nuclear biz

New Delhi, Mar 5 (UNI) State-owned power major National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) today received the approval from its board to amend the object clause of its Memorandum to undertake activities related to nuclear power generation.

Last month, the government gave its go-ahead to the company to foray in nuclear power generation. The company is expected to make an announcement in the direction by 2007-08.

NTPC Ltd, the country's largest thermal power genarating company, has plans to generate 2,000 MW nuclear power by 2017.

The board of the company has already given its principal approval.
