Mynmarese business delegation visits Mizoram

Aizawl, March 5 (UNI) A 31-member business delegation from Myanmar reached Mizoram today to interact with business people and officials for furthering Indo-Myanmar trade.

Official sources said that the delegation is visiting the northeast region to explore business possibilites in tea, textile and agro-based products. They have already visited Asom and Manipur.

According to the 1994 trade agreement between Myanmar and Mizoram, only 22 items were being traded between two countries from Mizoram.

''The team led by Myanmer's border trade deputy director Thaung Kyaw, Myanmar Economic Bank deputy general manager Tha Ra and Livestock Breeding and Fisheries director Aung Min held meeting with the officials of Trade and Commerce department as well as other highly placed officials,'' sources said.

Myanmar is keen on importing tea technology from NE to boost high yield, said Myanmer's border trade deputy director Thaung Kyaw adding, ''We are also planning to work together with the Northeast in the field of medicinal plants.
