Mumbai Mayor to be elected on March 10, nomination tomorrow
Mumbai, Mar 05 (UNI) The election for the post of Mumbai Mayor will be held on Saturday, sources said today.
According to sources the nominations will be filed tomorrow and the Mayor will be elected on March 10.
In the House of strong 227, Shiv Sena-BJP alliance is very close to simple majority. Mayor's post is expected to go to Shiv Sena while the Deputy Mayor is expected to be from BJP.
This time the Mayor's post is reserved for women and for the first time, the Mayor will be elected by raising hands and not by secret ballot. Videography of the entire voting process will be done, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) sources said.
The partywise strength in BMC is as follows: Shiv Sena 83, BJP 28, Congress 71, NCP 14, SP eight, MNS seven, RPI two, ABS two, BSP one, and Ind Nine.
The present strength of the house is 226. A newly elected Shiv Sena corporator was murdered recently.
