JSW Steel posts 30 p c growth

Chennai, Mar 5 (UNI) JSW Steel Limited has registered a 30 per cent growth in crude steel production in February, notwithstanding the shutdown of one of its furnaces due to accidental fire last month.

Apart from this, HR Coils also posted a 27 per cent growth, HR Plates 103 per cent and Pre-Painted GI 167 per cent in February over the corresponding period previous year, a release said here today.

The volume growth was achieved across all the company items excepting galvanising products.

The 1.3 MTPA expansion project commissioned in November 2006 was also operating above 80 per cent capacity.

The work on re-commissioning the closed furnace was in full swing and was expected to be on stream in April, the release added.
