Delhi BJP demands Sajjan Kumar's resignation as MP
New Delhi, Mar 5 (UNI) Delhi BJP today demanded the resignation of Congress leader Sajjan Kumar as Member of Parliament after the Delhi High Court admitted an appeal by the CBI against his acquittal in a 1984 anti-Sikh riot case by a city court.
Welcoming the court's order, Delhi Pradesh BJP President Harsh Vardhan said this would strengthen the trust of the people in judiciary.
Meanwhile, former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Vijay Goel also demanded the resignation of Delhi State Election Commissioner S P Marwah saying he had no moral right to continue in office following the ''scandal'' caused by reservation of seats in the 272-ward Municipal Corporation of Delhi house.
This had put a question mark on impartiality of the Election Commissioner. How could the MCD polls be held under his supervision? he asked.
Minto Road Municipal Councillor Ramesh Dutta had moved the High Court seeking to quash the notification of the commission increasing the number of wards reserved for women.
The notification was ''arbitrary and mala fide'', petitioner had argued.
