Cong has cheated minorities: TDP
Hyderabad, Mar 5 (UNI) The main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh today alleged that the Congress Government had cheated Muslims by taking an impractical stand on reservation for them in Government jobs and education.
The Government did not listen to the TDP's suggestion that the quantum of reservation be restricted to three per cent instead of five per cent so that it did not exceed the 50 per cent ceiling fixed by the Supreme Court, TDP legislator K Acham Naidu said, while intiating the debate on demand for grants for welfare of minorities and other weaker sections of people.
The ruling Congress had played 'vote bank politics' by making an 'impractical promise' and come to power even as 'uncertainty' continued over the fate of students belonging to the Community.
He criticised the Government for 'inadequate' allocation for upkeep of mosques, minorities welfare and for Other Backward Classes.
