CII urges TN govt to focus on infrastructure development
Chennai, Mar 5 (UNI) Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Tamil Nadu State Council in its pre-budget proposal to the State Government, today recommended that infrastructure, manufacturing, development, labour reforms and agriculture were some of the thrust areas required for achieving double-digit industrial growth in the State.
In a statement issued here, CII Tamil Nadu Circle Chairman Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu said ''to make Tamil Nadu the 'numero uno' State, more focus on infrastructure development and manufacturing was needed to achieve the industrial growth rate of over ten per cent''.
He said ''presently, Tamil Nadu is the third larget economy among Indian State, growing at six to seven per cent.'' ''CII prescribes a special focus to develop two-tier towns to bring in more investments into the State'', he said adding development of sites and satellite cities in rural areas may be given priority.
Mr Sanjay said CII advocates for Government-Industry forum, for setting up of auto parks, single window agency for environmental clearance and for acceleration of industrial growth in the State.
On the agricultural perspective, CII underlined more focus for agriculture, as it provides livelihood for more than 60 per cent of population in the State.
He said ''CII recommends that State Government clearly notify the items falling under industrial inputs under TN Value Added Tax(VAT) Act''.
