Brother International sets up Indian subsidiary

Bangalore, Mar 5 (UNI) Japan-based electronics and imaging major, Brother International, today announced the setting up of a fully-owned subsidiary in India with an initial capital of US Dollar three million to focus on the printing and solutions business and personal and home business of its products.

Based in Mumbai, Brother International (India) Pvt Ltd had been designated as the operational base for the company's sales activities in the country. The company would initially have four branches -- New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore. The company proposed to double its headcount in the country from the current 25 within the next quarter, a company release here said.

The company, engaged in manufacturing laser printers, multi function products, fax machines, labelling solutions and domestic sewing and embroidery solutions, expected to achieve the one billion yen mark by early 2008, the release said.

The subsidiary would focus on marketing, sales and customer support for the company's products in the region, company President and Representative Director Toyomi Ido said.
