BJP worker hacked to death, bandh called
Kannur, Mar 5 (UNI) A BJP worker was hacked to death at Thekke Panoor near Thalassery, about 40 Km from here, last night.
The victim was identified as P Valsaraj Kurup (34), an advocate working in Thalassery Bar.
A five-member gang allegedly attacked him in front of his house.
He died on the way to hospital.
The body was kept at Thalassery General Hospital and later taken to Pariyaram Medical College for a post-mortem.
Kurup was a BJP candidate in the last civic body elections and a party committee member of the Peringalam Assembly Constituency.
The BJP called for a dawn-to-dusk bandh in Kannur District today.
Investigations are on and no arrests have been made so far, police said.
