Attack on media: BJP seeks action against MNR Medical College

Hyderabad, Mar 5 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) floor leader G Kishan Reddy today asked the state government to take strict action against the management of the MNR Medical College, for allegedly attacking the reporter and staff members of a local TV channel.

Addressing a press conference here, he said it was the responsibility of the government to take action against the persons and institutions resorting to attacks on media and journalists who were creating awareness among the people on corruption.

The government should evolve a policy for the protection of media and journalists from attackers, he added.

Mr Reddy also demanded the government to hold an immediate discussion in the House on the circumstances leading to the release of GO 938 regulating the functioning of media and its subsequent cancellation following protests from the media organisations and Opposition parties.
