Assam Rifles gun down two UNLF Cadres

Shillong, Mar 5 (UNI) Two UNLF militants were killed in an encounter with the Assam Rifles in Manipur's Aishi village under Ukhrul district on March 3, official sources said here today.

Based on inputs of proscribed United National Liberation Front activities in Aishi Molvallup area, especially after ambush on the CRPF on February 9, the Assam Rifles had launched operations to hunt them down, the sources said.

The troops also recovered one SLR with 40 live rounds of ammunition and a high frequency radio set from the slain cadres.

While fleeing the UNLF cadres had burnt down 11 houses in Aishi.

The Assam Rifles continued operation to flush out more UNLF cadres from the area.
