Amar Singh calls on Karat, discusses CBI inquiry against Mulayam

New Delhi, Mar 5 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) General Secretary Amar Singh today met CPI (M) chief Prakash Karat and gave him a CD, claiming that the CBI inquiry ordered into allegations of UP chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and his kin possessing disproporionate assets was "politically motivated." " I have promised Mr Singh to look into the matter," Mr Karat told a press conference, adding that Mr Singh had also given him a letter in this connection.

Noting that Mr Yadav was scheduled to visit Delhi tomorrow, Mr Karat said the SP supremo wanted to meet him but since he would not be here, Mr Amar Singh chose to meet him today and give the CD.

Replying a specific query, the CPI (M) leader said he had yet to see the CD and therefore was not in a position to comment on it.
