Maoist Chief Action Squadron leader arrested
Midnapur West, Mar 4 (UNI) The most wanted Maoist Chief Action Squadron leader Karu Mandi was arrested (50) last night, West Midnapur District Superintendent of Police R Rajashekharan today said.
The maoist leader was arrested from Belatikri in Lalgarh Police Station where he had been hiding for sometime after assaulting the CPI(M) local Committee Secretary.
Acting on a tip-off police swooped down on a hut and arrested him along with an automatic-Rifle, the SP said.
A narco analysis test on him will be conducted today, the SP added.
Mandi was said to be involved in fixing up the landmine in Jhitka Forest in Lalgarh, which led to killing of two police personnel and injuring about half a dozen journalists and photographers in September last year.
