Kerala Minister denies load-shedding in state

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 4 (UNI) Kerala Electricity Minister A K Balan today stressed that the government had no plans to introduce load-shedding under any circumstances in the state.

''It is the time of S S LC and other examinations and the government has no intention to introduce load-shedding.

These are all rumours and some are intending to create problems during the on going assembly session,'' he told reporters after a meeting of the Kerala State Electricity Board officials.

The meeting had been called to evaluate the situation of pollution of Periyar river.

Mr Balan said about four lakh new electricity connections were given, which had resulted in an additional burden of 250 MW of electricity. ''This additional burden does not mean that load-shedding would be introduced,'' he said.

The KSEB officials meeting also decided to constitute a five-member committee to look into the Periyar pollution.
