Holi, Holla Mohalla celebrated in Punjab

Chandigarh, Mar 4 (UNI) 'Holi', the festival of colours, was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety throughout Punjab, Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh today as people poured colours on each other exchanged greetings on the occasion.

Since early morning, children were out on the streets, spraying colours on their friends and pedestrians.

'Pichkaris,' appearing as replicas of cell phones, cars, guns, cameras, and Spiderman, were used during the celebrations.

In small groups, the holi revellers were seen spraying colours and smearing the faces of their friends and even passers-by.

The Holla Mohalla festival, was celebrated with traditional fervour at Anandpur Sahib, the birthplace of the 'Khalsa'. Devotees in large numbers paid obeisance at the historic Keshgarh Sahib gurdwara, while 'Nihangs' in their brightly coloured robes exhibited their 'gatka' (martial arts) skills and displayed breath-taking stunts on horse-back.
